Boxy Svg 3 22 8
It’s February already! And that means one thing: Valentine’s Day. I needed a cute little Valentine treat box, but since I’m working on a BIG PROJECT (Shhh), I didn’t have time to design my own box, so I went looking for some free cut files I could use to whip one up quickity-quickity. Oh, wow, did I find some great ones. So instead of showing you the one I made, I’m going to share them ALL.
- Boxy SVG 3.22.7 macOS 60 mb Boxy SVG project goal is to create the best SVG editor for non-technical users as well as for professional designers and developers. SVG is the standard format for storing vector graphics such as icons, banners, charts and illustrations.

NOTE:Feb 2021: This is an older post so some of the links are no longer valid and have been removed. I’ve left the info of the original website in case you want to do some sleuthing to see if you can find the patterns on the blogs in a new location.
Here is a collection of 15 Valentine treat boxes, different sizes and shapes, and hearts a-plenty—all with links to the free cut files. All are cuttable on a Silhouette machine (for some you’ll need the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition), but some of the files are in SVG format that can be be cut on other cutting machines, or even by hand, if you’re so inclined.

1. Simple Treat Box with Heart Window
Free SVG at Quilling Patch Crafts
A quick & simple treat box. Handy if you have to make a classroom’s worth.
2. Heart-shaped Box & Candy Cups
Free SVG file at Pazzles Craft Room HERE
Is this not the cutest little chocolate box? Shiny foil cardstock reminds me of the big boxes of chocolates my dad used to buy for my mom when I was little.
3. Valentine Heart Pillow Box
Free SVG, .studio, dxf, & pdf files at TeamKNK HERE
I love the delicate cutout on this pillow box by Bird of Bird’s Cards (if you have a Silhouette machine and haven’t checked out this blog yet, grab a cuppa and do…you won’t be disappointed). Be sure to grab the file with the matching card and tag as well.
4. Heart Gift Box
Free SVG & GSD files at Quilling Patch Crafts
The halves of the heart interlock to keep the box closed. Great to cut from plain or valentine themed cardstock. My friend (waves to Wanda! :^) reduced the size of this box to fit a foil-wrapped heart and then made 40+ boxes in pink & red for her daughter’s classmates. Great idea!
5. Octagon Box
Free SVG & pdf at SVG Cuts HERE
An octagon shape. Who doesn’t like octagons?
6. Heart Box
Free SVG & pdf HERE
This heart box with a built-in lid is pretty cool because the link actually takes you to a template maker where you can specify the length, width & height you want the box to be, then the template maker generates a downloadable file for that box. Be sure to check out the rest of the site—boxes galore, almost any shape you can think of.
7. V-Day Box & Fortune Cookies
Free .studio & pdf at Say not Sweet Anne
This is so fun. Cut files, printables, and instructions to make a box, and the paper fortune cookies to go in it. Add your own fortunes or use the printable ones provided.
8. Heart Treat Box
Free SVG file at the Dreaming Tree HERE
Paper choice is everything for this french fries style box. I would probably choose two-sided paper that was patterned on one side and a solid color (red!) on the other to emphasize the heart shape at the back.
9. Chocolate Box
You can cut two of these little rectangular boxes from a 12″ x 12″ piece of heavy paper. Add a strip of acetate to make a “window”. File includes the tag. A short video tutorial shows the assembly steps.
10. Heart Top Hexagon Box
Free SVG file at Paper Pastime HERE
A collection of hearts atop a six-sided box makes for a very interesting cut file and an even more interesting box. If you have trouble figuring out how the hearts flip together to close the box, there’s an assembly tutorial video to help you out.
11. Fancy Valentine Heart Box
Free SVG file at the Dreaming Tree HERE
A tall box you could embellish all fussy-frou-frou or go a little simpler and let the paper patterns do all the work.
12. Valentine Tea Light Holder
Free SVG file at Dreaming Tree HERE
Billed as a tea light holder, this would also make a great open gift box or a box base for a tall valentine gift wrapped in tissue.
13. Love Letter Boxes
Free print & cut file at Skip to My Lou HERE
Make all of the letters as valentine decor, or just the heart-y ‘O’ to use as a gift box. The templates are available as a .jpg, so if you don’t have a cutting machine, you can print the pretty papers, cut by hand, and assemble. If you do want to use your Silhouette or other cutting machine, you’ll have to add cut lines first.
14. Open Heart Gift Boxes
Free print & cut pdf templates at Lee Hansen Design HERE
Print & cut in three different patterns to make an open heart box you can hang by ribbon. If you cut it in your Silhouette, you’ll have to trace first to get cut lines. I could see myself adding a couple of homemade cookies to each of these.
15.Chocolate Kiss Box
Free .studio & SVG files at September Ninth Designs HERE
This one’s not technically a box, nor does it have hearts on it, but seriously… Valentine’s Day without Hershey kisses? Not gonna happen. So on the list it stays. LOL. What a creative design—perfect in red, and large enough to hold three chocolate kisses.
BONUS 16. Open Top Valentine Tea Light Lantern
Free .Studio & SVG file at Extreme Cards & Papercrafting HERE
A square box you can use as a lantern or as a gift box with tissue poking out the top.
17. Valentine Snack Cake Gift Box with Flip Top Lid
Free .Studio3 & pdf files at A Stroke of Jeanne-ius Papercrafting HERE
Choose a valentine theme paper to cut this rectangular box with a built-in lid. Add a couple of snack cakes and tuck it into a lunchbox or office drawer for a special someone to find.
18. Heart Cutout Box
Free .Studio3 files at 30 Minute Crafts HERE
The top—with a cutout heart—slides over top of the bottom. Pretty from plain cardstock or patterned. Easy assembly.
My fave cardstock for making boxes is Michaels Recollections brand 65lb. It folds nicely. My fave adhesive for cardstock is the Zig 2-Way Glue Pen. It goes on thick or thin, doesn’t wrinkle the cardstock, can be used as a temporary or permanent adhesive (depending on how you use it), and it dries fast.
Have fun choosing valentine theme paper! If you’re really gung ho, pull out some white cardstock and try your hand at using digital papers, like these free papers from pixelscrapper.com :
I don’t have any affiliation with pixelscrapper, I just love a lot of their papers & graphics. It’s free to join and then you can download digital papers and other graphics for free for your choice of personal or commercial use. For other free digital papers Google “free digital papers” and “valentine” together.
If you need a tutorial, you can find my instructions on how to use digital papers in Silhouette Studio HERE.
I have more super cool boxes I had hoped to share with you, but they all have download issues at the moment. I’ve contacted the blog owners and will add more boxes above for y’all as I get the functional links.
