DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
DUTIES:
Serves as a Fitness Facility Manager directing and supervising diverse functions required to operate a fitness facility up to 89,447 SQ FT. Works under the direction of the Chief, Fitness, Athletics, and Aquatics.
1. Supervises and oversees the management and operation of a Fitness Facility. Establishes employee work schedules and performance objectives and appraisals. Coordinates with higher management to meet goals and objectives within deadlines and participates in the Recreation Delivery System (RDS) process. Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation. Maximizes facility usage for both organized functions and individual development. Assists in the development and reviews specifications for instructors and other contracts. Monitors contractor performance, extending or terminating contracts as warranted, in conjunction with NAF Contracting and approves payments. Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.
2. Continually assesses facility requirements and develops plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities. Serves as facility expert for major and minor construction projects, providing input to Public Works (PW) and contractors on work plans, schedules, methods, objectives and impact of work. Works with PW to ensure all relevant 1391s are in accordance with Headquarters Department of the Army Fitness Facility Design Standards, and Installation Status Reports (Quality Booklet, etc) are properly completed. Publicizes sports facilities, programs and events by writing articles for local newspapers and coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material. Reviews directives from higher levels of authority and prepares implementing SOP's and updates regulatory guidance. Conducts sports facility tours for VIPs. Assists in the preparation of MWR and DOD Baseline Standards data call reports.
3. Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities. Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as needed.

3. Executive Exemption:
a. Exercises appropriate management responsibility (primary duty) over a recognized organizational unit with a continuing function, AND
b. Customarily and regularly directs 2 or more employees, AND
c. Has the authority to make or recommend hiring, firing, or other status-change decisions, when such recommendations have particular weight.

4. Professional Exemption:
a. Professional work (primary duty)
b. Learned Professional, (See 5 CFR, 551.208 ) (Registered Nurses, Dental Hygienists, Physician’s Assistants, Medical Technologists, Teachers, Attorneys, Physicians, Dentists, Podiatrists, Optometrists, Engineers, Architects, and Accountants at the independent level as just some of the typical examples of exempt professionals). Or
c. Creative Professional, (See 5 CFR, 551.209 ) (The primary duty requires invention and originality in a recognized artistic field (music, writing, etc.) and does not typically include newspapers or other media or work subject to control by the organization are just some examples of Creative Professionals). Or
d. Computer Employee, (See 5 CFR, 551.210 ) ( must meet salary test and perform such duties as system analysis, program/system design, or program/system testing, documentation, and modification). Computer manufacture or repair is excluded (non-exempt work).

5. Administrative Exemption:
